We are preparing our accounting students for the real world in a variety of different ways. Some of the opportunities available to our students include: ? Prepared to pass the CPA examination. Course work in our undergraduate and graduate accounting programs prepares students to take the CPA examination through Becker CPA Preparation training, which is considered the gold standard in the field. ? 100% of students complete a paid internship that earns college credit. Every accounting undergraduate student is required to complete an internship in accounting prior to graduation. The Haile College of Business partners with public accounting firms and Fortune 500 companies in Cincinnati, Kentucky, Ohio, and all over the U.S to help place our students into valuable intern roles. ? Make the world your classroom. Study abroad in countries around the world, including Czech Republic, Ireland, Germany and England, while taking specialized business courses. ? More options. NKU's comprehensive curriculum makes it easy to double major or minor in another area of business, such as finance or management, to compliment the knowledge gained through the accounting major.

    Yesterday, we had the pleasure of hosting Brian Linneman, CPA, and Cole Ernst from Plante Moran in NKU's ACC300 - Intermediate Accounting 1 class. They delivered an insightful and engaging presentation on Revenue Recognition and ASC 606, providing valuable real-world examples and deepening our understanding of these crucial accounting standards. Thank you, Brian and Cole, for sharing your expertise and giving our students a glimpse into how these principles apply in practice. Your knowledge and experience truly enriched the learning experience!     After today, I feel extremely prepared for Meet the Firms and how to connect with employers. I also got to learn a little more about how AI is innovating and aiding accounting firms, but not replacing any employees! I loved hearing what these panelist had to say on how to secure an internship, then how to continue to stand out within that internship to move into a full-time position. Today’s FASA event was so informative. I personally am so proud of our officers for organizing, preparing, planning, and marketing this event. I also am so happy that multiple professors brought their classes in for this amazing panel lineup. Thank you to our panelists Whitney Fagin, SHRM-CP, Marissa Vilardo, Kendra Anderson, Andrew Harris, CPA, Austin Alwell, and Audrey North. Thank you to Lee Kersting for allowing our class to come to the event! Finally, thank you to my fellow officers, Rista Basnet, Alexis Tainsh, and Hawa Khamis! I love our team and how well we work together!! Are you interested in FASA or nervous about Meet the Firms and were not able to attend today?     As the faculty advisor for the Finance and Accounting Student Association (FASA), I am very proud of our student officers - Rista Basnet, Kyah Martin, Hawa Khamis, and Alexis Tainsh - for their outstanding work in planning and hosting our “Meet the Firms Pre-Panel event”. This event provided an invaluable opportunity for students to connect with representatives from accounting firms and businesses, ask important questions, and gain insights on how to best prepare for the upcoming job fair. A special thank you to our incredible panelists - Whitney Fagin, SHRM-CP, Marissa Vilardo, Kendra Anderson, Andrew Harris, CPA, Austin Alwell, and Audrey North - for sharing your valuable experiences and advice, which truly helped make this event a success. Your insights are instrumental in guiding the next generation of accounting professionals. I would also like to extend my gratitude to Dr. Lee Kersting, our department chair, MAcc Director J Human, and Accounting Faculty Danna Mohammad, CPA for their unwavering support of this event. Your encouragement and involvement are greatly appreciated. I would also like to remind our accounting major students to attend the Resume Workshop on September 5th from 4:30 to 5:30 in BC 110 and the Meet the Firms Job Fair on September 13th in the Student Union Ballroom, for which today’s pre-panel was a perfect prelude.

    I am filled with great joy to share that I have been named the Overall Outstanding HAILE College of Business Undergraduate Student and the Outstanding Student in Accounting for the 2023-2024 academic year! As my time concludes here in the NKU Haile College of Business I am reminded of how blessed I am to have such great mentors and leaders who have challenged and contributed to my journey.
