The New Jersey State Bar Association Young Lawyers Division, in collaboration with the ESSEX COUNTY BAR ASSOCIATION Young Lawyers Section, is hosting an in-person service event to support Meeting Essential Needs With Dignity (MEND). As part of this event, we are collecting both in-kind and monetary donations to help MEND’s mission of ensuring that every individual in our community has access to fresh, nutritious food. MEND plays a crucial role by distributing these vital food supplies to local food pantries. ???? As an added bonus, MEND is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and all donations are tax-deductible: https://lnkd.in/ePxwrP9g Every donation, big or small, makes a meaningful difference and is deeply appreciated!

The New Jersey State Bar Association appeared in the Appellate Division today as part of its ongoing advocacy to expand victim protections under the state’s Child Sexual Abuse Act (CSAA). NJSBA Trustee Thomas Manzo represented the Association as amicus in JH v. Warren Hills Board of Education, involving an interlocutory appeal on claims brought under the CSAA. Manzo argued for an expansive reading of the CSAA to eliminate procedural obstacles for victims to bring claims of sexual assault that arose when they were a child. The panel’s decision will “directly affect the types of doors that are open to the victims that this varied legislation intends to provide remediation to,” Manzo said.
