New Jersey State Municipal Prosecutors Assoc

The NJSMPA is a respected, sought-after voice in conversations affecting Municipal Court practice in New Jersey. As important, the NJSMPA is increasingly becoming an organization where municipal prosecutors gather, in person and virtually, to share news, support and legal strategies related to our prosecutorial work. The New Jersey State Municipal Prosecutors Association (NJSMPA) was organized in 2004 to provide a collective voice for municipal prosecutors and to foster a sense of camaraderie among our members. Our organization is becoming an increasingly potent voice state-wide. We have secured a seat on the State Supreme Court's Municipal Court Practice Committee, the body that recommends improvements and modifications to the Part VII Court Rules Governing the Municipal Courts. We have a seat on the League of Municipalities legislative Committee. We were appointed to NJ Task Force on Abuse of Persons who are elderly or disabled. We testify before the state legislature in Trenton on bills affecting municipal court practice, and are otherwise asked for comments on matters affecting areas of our practice. We are frequently represented at meetings of the 21 Assistant County Prosecutors, who serve as our "supervisors," and are in regular communication with the Attorney General's office.
