Introducing The BrokenNotBroke Interview! ??? The Guarini Institute at NJCU is proud to launch 'The BrokenNotBroke Interview', an ongoing conversation series aimed at shedding light on the financial struggles faced by families of children with cancer. For our inaugural event, we had the honor of hosting Matt Giegerich, CEO of the Matthew Larson Foundation for Pediatric Brain Tumors (IronMatt), who emphasized the severe financial impact that pediatric brain tumors impose on families, often lasting well beyond the initial diagnosis. He highlighted how time is one of the scarcest resources for parents, who must balance caregiving responsibilities with overwhelming medical and household costs. ?? Watch the full interview here: https://lnkd.in/ecZCRUdM We extend our deepest gratitude to Matt Giegerich and IronMatt for their unwavering commitment to families in need. Special thanks to New Jersey City University for its continued support in advancing the brokenNotbroke initiative and helping families navigate financial challenges with dignity. ?? Our vision is that financially vulnerable families have access to relevant resources to improve their economic mobility
关于我们
Our mission is to create novel tools to facilitate the economic mobility of individuals and families experiencing financial hardship. Our vision is that financially vulnerable individuals and families have access to relevant information and resources to improve their upward economic mobility. The Guarini Institute for International Education and Economic Mobility was made possible by a $5 million gift from distinguished former Congressman and long-time sponsor of NJCU, Hon. Frank J. Guarini. In February 2021, Dr. Adrian Franco, a former officer and director at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, began his role as inaugural executive director and manager of the $5 million gift.

Why is New Jersey City University critical in Hudson County? The recent research of Raj Chetty and Opportunity Insights shows that opportunities for economic mobility at Hudson County have decreased in the last decades. While the percent change in household income at age 27 between people born in 1978 versus people born in 1992 is a concerning -9%, NJCU is one of the top universities in the nation for economic mobility. #economicmobility #highereducation Andrés Acebo Guarini Institute at NJCU
