We're honored to announce that five outstanding nonprofits addressing food insecurity in New Jersey have received a combined $25,000 in State Strategic grants from the American Water Charitable Foundation: Community FoodBank of New Jersey, Food Bank of South Jersey, Fulfill, Mercer Street Friends, and Norwescap. As an organization deeply rooted in the communities we serve, we nominated these food banks for their unwavering dedication to ensuring residents have access to nutritious meals. We believe that an informed customer is an empowered partner in our mission for water safety. That's why we launched a comprehensive #LeadServiceLineReplacement program in 2022 to educate customers about our ongoing efforts to replace lead and galvanized steel service lines and encourage homeowners to test the material of their pipes. By providing frequent updates and regularly engaging with customers, we're not just sharing information — we're building a collaborative program that encourages customers to stay informed, take action and be active partners in creating a lead-free New Jersey. Read more about our program and how we're working with our customers at every step of the way. https://lnkd.in/g_C3tRdZ. #LeadFreeNJ #LSLR

Water is a precious resource — and we are doing all we can to ensure it’s available today, tomorrow, and for future generations. Part of our commitment includes helping customers understand how they can make wise water decisions, including sharing simple tips to conserve water both indoors and outdoors. This holiday season, you can make a difference by: ?? Using a broom or rake - instead of a hose - to sweep away leaves on your driveway. ?? Taking short, 5-minute showers. Don’t let holiday houseguests hog the water! ??? Turning off the tap when washing those Thanksgiving dishes. (Or use the dishwasher if it’s full!) We all have an important role to play when it comes to preserving our water supply. Visit our Wise Water Use page to learn more: https://bit.ly/3O04Pbe.

Utility scams are common this time of year and growing more frequent throughout the rest of the year. To help avoid being scammed, there are three things you can do: ask for proper identification, thoroughly inspect the ID badge, and check the service person’s vehicle. A company ID badge and driver’s license can help verify that the person is who they say they are. American Water’s ID badge will display the person’s picture and company logo. Also, American Water vehicles will have our logo clearly displayed on the side. For more information about common scams and signs, visit https://lnkd.in/eBCUWJt.

As dry conditions persist, we applaud the state’s decision to issue a drought warning and are proud to be working closely with the NJ Department of Environmental Protection to support the critical conservation work they are doing. That’s why we issued a statewide mandatory conservation notice for customers to limit all nonessential water usage. As New Jersey’s largest water utility, we are dedicated to responsible water management. Our infrastructure, including our ability to shift between different water sources, positions us to deliver consistent, high-quality service even in drought conditions. We will continue to closely monitor water supply levels over the coming weeks and encourage our customers to do their part by monitoring their usage in their MyWater account and following simple conservation tips that can be found on our website at https://lnkd.in/e2gU-n8U.

As part of our efforts to identify and replace all lead and galvanized steel water service lines by 2031, New Jersey American Water is sending customers with unknown service line material a letter with helpful information about how to self-ID and report the material of their pipes. While New Jersey American Water’s water mains contain no lead, the customer-side service lines that carry the water into homes could. Homeowners who receive the letter should locate and self-identify their service line material and submit their findings online: https://lnkd.in/e7DkgNKv. If the service line is made of lead or galvanized steel, New Jersey American Water will work with homeowners to replace it at no additional cost. #LeadFreeNJ #LSLR #LeadServiceLineReplacement
