Cojab is a legal advocate, media contributor, and social media activist focused on protecting Jewish civil rights and addressing antisemitism. Known for filing a 2019 Title VI complaint against NYU for neglecting its Jewish community’s safety, her case contributed to the Executive Order on Combating Antisemitism and laid the groundwork for subsequent Title VI cases. As a legal fellow at the National Jewish Advocacy Center, Adela manages cases defending Jewish civil rights. In addition to her legal work, Adela has been a commentator on major news networks, including Fox, Telemundo, and Univision. In May 2022, Lufthansa denied boarding to 131 passengers who were flying from #NYC to #Budapest via #Frankfurt for a memorial event for an Orthodox rabbi. Most wore the distinctive black hats and jackets typically favored by Orthodox Jewish men. After a long battle waged by #NJAC Director Mark Goldfeder, the U.S. Department of Transportation concluded that Lufthansa had discriminated against the passengers on the basis of religion. While the fine will serve an important deterrent (it goes to the gov't, not the victims), Lufthansa has also worked with NJAC partner American Jewish Committee (AJC) to implement training and is the first airline to adopt the #IHRA definition of #antisemitism. #AdoptIHRA #stopantisemitism #endhate

I am introducing a Congressional resolution denouncing Tucker Carlson for platforming the antisemitism and historical revisionism of Darryl Cooper, who denies the reality of Hitler as the aggressor in World War II. Congress must condemn with moral clarity the Holocaust denial and Hitler apologia that has been amplified by the far right.
Today's action by the U.S. Department of the Treasury is the eighth tranche of U.S. designations targeting the #Hamas financial networks since the #terroristattacks of October 7, 2023. The press release gives details, but spoiler alert--it is a direct violation of U.S. law to fund #terrorism. It is also illegal to fund the funders of terrorism.
