2024, you've been a whirlwind! From navigating the complex world of natural disaster risk assessment to being crowned (unofficially, but I'll take it!) "Hazus Migration Mastermind," it's been a year of growth and unexpected accolades. A huge highlight was kicking off the year with a trip to Esri headquarters. We embarked on a mission: transitioning FEMA's Hazus from ArcMap to ArcGIS Pro. This wasn't just about upgrading software; it was about fundamentally enhancing the user experience for the incredible community using Hazus to build more resilient communities. With 2024 being FEMA's "Year of Customer Experience," this focus was more critical than ever. We dove deep into understanding user needs, pain points, and aspirations for the future of Hazus. My amazing colleague, Ashley Hoke even bestowed upon me this "Hazus Migration Mastermind" award (see photo!). It perfectly captures the dedication and, let's be honest, occasional head-scratching that went into this complex project. I am so grateful for a fantastic team of colleagues who made this transition a reality. A big thank you to everyone who supported this journey.
