This past Sunday, we congratulated our 2024 class of Nittany Data Lab’s Bootcamp graduates! The annual NDL Data Science Bootcamp is hosted every September to expose students from freshmen to seniors to the fundamentals of data science. We teach theoretical concepts and work through interactive exercises to further members’ knowledge and skills in the niche field. This year, we worked through data manipulation, applied statistics, and algorithmic solutions. In week one, members learned about data preprocessing, exploration, and integration by applying theory to programming languages like Python and SQL. The second week of the bootcamp covered Descriptive Statistics, Inferential Statistics, Bayesian Statistics, and regression analysis and exposed students to programming in R. In the third week of the bootcamp we reviewed machine learning modeling and algorithmic approaches, where members were able to learn core principles and methods of machine learning such as clustering, decision trees, model validation methods, and neural networks. Congratulations to everyone who successfully completed the annual Data Science Bootcamp!

Today, Nittany Data Labs had a great time meeting a fellow Penn Stater with the Reveal Global Consulting team! We had a lot of fun learning about how data science is applied to provide solutions to their many clients!
Super grateful that my other alma mater Penn State University stopped in for a visit with Reveal Global Consulting to learn about data science in the federal space. These young data scientists are really something and the future is really bright with these students entering the workforce. Special thanks to Madeleine Willson for organizing the trip! ????
