NineDot's own Joe Silver had the chance to guest judge at the NYC Climate Hackathon on Feb 22nd alongside innovators and technologists seeking to solve the problem of e-bike battery safety. It was a great afternoon at Newlab in the Brooklyn Navy Yard!
Joe and the four other judges (John Orlando, Lydia Wiener, Naman Shah, Stephan von Wolff) heard 9 pitches by the end of the day.?Teams workshopped ideas for monitoring e-bike batteries, implementing new safety features, providing safer charging alternatives, and even policy fixes that could address some of the systemic problems facing the industry.
NineDot takes battery safety extremely seriously and events like these help educate community members on the difference between the safe, certified, and FDNY approved stationary energy storage projects we build and the currently unregulated and uncertified market of e-bike batteries.
Congrats to the winning teams and everyone who participated in the 3-hour workshop, and a big thank you to Dan Bakke and Raj Dasai, the hackathon organizers, for their efforts to help find creative solutions to energy challenges. https://lnkd.in/gfd32R_G #sustainableNYC #hackathons #batteries
