Building Confidence, One Step at a Time at Build Like a Girl! ??♀?? What an unforgettable day at Build Like a Girl 2025, hosted by ABC Greater Michigan Chapter! This event gave young girls (grades 5-12) the chance to step into the world of construction, meet women in the industry, and get hands-on experience with real trades. Our team brought the excitement with a Scaffold Stair Tower, an insulation model, and of course—the unforgettable Foam Glass (aka “fart rock” ??)! The girls didn’t just learn—they climbed, explored, and even took a creative break with some bracelet-making fun. In a field where representation matters, we’re proud to help inspire, educate, and empower the next generation of builders and leaders. Reflecting back on who and what got you to where you are today, is so important! Mine was seven years ago, when we're giving an opportunity to build not one but two 247' tall scaffolds on the Mackinac Bridge in Michigan. This project was to abate old decaying paint and restore with new innovative coatings to handle the extreme climate the bridge faces daily. To most it seemed impossible and a risk not worth taking, just ask my mother! However, this team and NPS we were determined to prove those wrong. We also wanted to prove to ourselves that 'Anything is Possible', as KG would say it! Without their believe in themselves and me, I would never be where I am today! We overcame numerous obstacles, delays, extreme weather, and even a couple of runway campers. That's a story for another day! They helped me to embrace fear and to lead individuals to success. They also showed me another side of myself that I didn't think I was capable of becoming. They believed in me.
