Our new Nikon #AM Technology Center officially opened in Gyoda, Japan, on February 28. This center will support Nikon’s plan to revolutionize manufacturing while scaling the industrial base using cutting-edge solutions. At this new center, we will: ? Accelerate innovation in laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) and directed energy deposition (DED) technologies. ? Collaborate with industry leaders to drive the adoption of additive manufacturing across aerospace and defense, automotive, and energy sectors. ? Support customers in Japan and Asia with advanced manufacturing solutions, reinforcing Nikon’s commitment to precision, quality, and efficiency. Our #Lasermeister #LM1000S technology enables non-contact, #micro-machining using #femtosecond #laser processing with minimal thermal impact, combined with precision positioning technology utilizing on-machine measurement. ?? These impressive images show a mechanical pencil before laser processing, then the pencil with the lead removed (drilled out), leaving only a thin wall. The hole was processed to a depth of around 2 mm in a φ0.5 mm mechanical pencil lead. ?? The LM1000S is ideal for precision machining of brittle materials including ceramics that are used in semiconductor manufacturing equipment and electronic components. At the Long Beach, California, State of the City 2025 address last month, Mayor Rex Richardson invited Nikon Advanced Manufacturing CEO Hamid Zarringhalam on stage to share the exciting news of the Nikon AM Technology Center’s Grand Opening and the national significance of Nikon's investment in #AdvancedManufacturing. Zarringhalam shared, "After being operational for some time, today we are publicly announcing that the Nikon AM Technology Center is open for business. This state-of-the-art 90,000 square foot facility focuses on metal additive manufacturing for defense, space, aviation, and other strategic industrial sectors.” He expressed that on behalf of Nikon Corporation we are proud to share this large investment in the city and are proud to be part of Space Beach. ??
