We are honored to present our Artist of the Month: Yoshi Sodeoka! Yoshi Sodeoka is known for his innovative exploration of various media in neo-psychedelic style. His work draws inspiration from music culture such as noise, punk, metal and prog-rock. His artistic practice involves a blend of digital video feedback, footage sampling, online imagery, and audio soundscapes, resulting in immersive sensory experiences. Sodeoka's works have been exhibited in prestigious venues worldwide, including the Centre Pompidou, Tate Britain, Whitney Museum of American Art, and SF MoMA, among others. Niio has commissioned two of Yoshi’s artworks, Synthetic Liquid 7 & 8, which depict organic forms that open a portal to a psychedelic and illusory world. These artworks were part of a commission program curated by Steven Sacks, owner of bitforms gallery. We proudly start 2025 celebrating the work of one of the most beloved artists on Niio: Yuge Zhou! Our Artist of the Month, Yuge Zhou is a Chinese born, Chicago-based video artist whose work addresses rootedness, longing and transient encounters across constructed or natural spaces. Her recent projects explore the geographical, historical and emotional distance between her homeland and America, and broader challenges of transcending separation. Yuge has exhibited internationally in prominent art venues. She also directs and curates 150 Media Stream, a uniquely-structured public digital art installation in Chicago. Niio has commissioned two of Yuge’s artworks, Interlinked I and II, which address the endless streams of transitory encounters in the urban space. Find out more about Yuge’s work at yugezhou.com and on Niio! #artistofthemonth #niioart #videoart #videocollage #digitalart

We are thrilled to launch a solo artcast by Korean new media artist Tahn! Tahn reinterprets the traditional Korean Ilwolobongdo folding screens through a contemporary lens. Known for their historical and symbolic significance in the royal courts of the Joseon Dynasty, Ilwolobongdo screens traditionally depict the sun, moon, and five peaks—symbolizing the king, unity, and balance in the universe. Through Tahn’s reimaginings, these motifs traverse time, blending cultural heritage with digital media to create compelling narratives that resonate with today’s global issues, such as the preservation of our ecosystems and cultural heritage, and the promises of a future driven by technological innovation. Each artwork becomes a tale of an imaginary place or a parallel universe, in which mythological elements build powerful metaphors about our present time. https://lnkd.in/eyF4Ue2U
