?? Congratulations to our friends Brooklyn Book Bodega on receiving the Brooklyn Org Spark Prize! Well deserved! ??? Your work reaches well beyond Brooklyn, as readers in the Bronx and our NIDC community have benefitted. We can’t wait to see your impact grow!
We’re thrilled to kick off 2025 with incredible news: Brooklyn Book Bodega is honored to be a recipient of the prestigious Brooklyn Org Spark Prize! This award, given to outstanding Brooklyn organizations advancing racial justice and addressing critical challenges in our communities, is a testament to the power of our mission. It celebrates the impact we’ve made so far and propels us forward as we work to ensure every child aged 0-18 in NYC has the opportunity to develop a home library and the myriad benefits that go hand in hand with literacy. The Spark Prize reaffirms the vital role literacy plays in creating equitable opportunities for all. We are humbled to be among the five grantees, and deeply grateful to our supporters, partners, and community for believing in the transformative power of books and literacy. Huge congratulations to the four other grantees: Brownsville Community Culinary Center, CHiPS (Community Help in Park Slope, Inc.), Good Call NYC, Technology for Families In Need

Our community has a rich migrant history at its roots - approximately 36% of Bronx County residents were born outside of the U.S. ? We understand that being a migrant can come with unique challenges, but you don’t have to face them alone. You have rights, and we’re here to connect you with vital information and resources.? ? Check out our website now to find: * Know Your Rights with ICE: Learn your rights during encounters with federal immigration enforcement. * NIDC’s Refugee Resource Guide: Find our Guide for Refugees with resources for housing, family services, mental health, and more.
