NICWA works to eliminate child abuse and neglect by strengthening our families, tribes, and the laws that protect them.
关于我们
Founded as a grassroots organization in Portland, Oregon nearly 40 years ago, NICWA works to support the safety, health, and spiritual strength of American Indian and Alaska Native children along the broad continuum of their lives. We support tribes in building the capacity to prevent child abuse and neglect through positive systems change at the state, federal, and tribal levels. We are the most comprehensive source of information on Native child welfare and continue to meet the evolving needs of Native communities across Indian Country through training, technical assistance, and advocacy. Please help us protect our youngest citizens.

?? IMPORTANT UPDATE on ICWA’s 46th Anniversary ?? We are proud to announce the release of ICWA 2050, a long-term strategic plan to proactively protect the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) and improve tribal child welfare capacity. What is ICWA 2050? ?? In the wake of Haaland v. Brackeen, ICWA 2050 is about how we use the next 25 years. As the 2024 election results are nearly complete, we recognize much is at stake for our communities. While leadership changes bring uncertainty and anxiety, we have prepared for this. We plan to organize, educate, and advocate for the needs and rights of Native children and families and the protection of tribal sovereignty.
