"I will not let someone else win because I am too afraid to try." Those words really stuck with me as I listened to a truly inspirational Ted Talk by Daniel Dart at CREtech New York. It'll take some time to process everything I learned over the past few days, but what an amazing time meeting new people and connecting with my Nickerson teammates! I always appreciate getting that time to get together out of the office. From Boston to New York, the ideas were definitely flowing fast and furious. Ever thought about living in a “Chondo”?!! Finegold Alexander Architects is the leader in adaptive reuse design and architecture, and they have another beautiful church to residential conversion in the works! Recently, Nickerson secured an opportunity for Finegold Alexander Architects’s Rebecca Berry, Principal, and Josephine Penta, AIA, LEED AP, Senior Associate, to sit down with NBC Boston Stations’s Matt Fortin to discuss their adaptive reuse work at La Victoire at 25 Isabella Street in Boston’s Bay Village neighborhood. Finegold Alexander Architects is designing an 18-unit residential development at the former Our Lady of Victories Church, which was originally built in 1891. The building is being developed by the KEMS Corporation and includes the retention and restoration of the church’s original brick exterior. With modern updates inside, the integrity of the interior will be maintained. The windows are inspired by the arched ones of the original nave and the new stained-glass windows will be where the originals once stood. Additionally, 25 Isabella Street will be completely electric with construction expected to be completed in 2025.
