Our new office welcomed familiar faces today! John Nichols, Bruce Brosch, and Don Wolfe stopped by to tour the space they designed in the ‘80s and we now call home. They've shared stories, reconnected with our leadership team—Igor Reyes, Patrick Busteed, and Adolfo Reyna; Andrew James is out on vacation—and wished us luck as we continue building on the legacy they started. ?? ??? ?? ??

In the 1980s, Coral Gables took a decisive step to preserve its Mediterranean character, introducing design standards that would shape the city’s future. Nichols Architects had the privilege of designing the first building to open under these new guidelines—a project that blended timeless European influences with the needs of a growing, modern city. Now, decades later, we’re moving into that very building. This full-circle moment is more than just a change of address—it’s a reminder of how architecture leaves a lasting imprint on a city and its people. From shaping Coral Gables’ skyline to calling one of our own designs home, we’re stepping into a new chapter that honors our past while looking ahead. It always feels like summertime at The Grove at Grand Bay ?? As winter stretches on, we’re revisiting one of our first projects in the U.S.. Set amidst palm trees in the heart of Miami, The Grove at Grand Bay were the first residential towers to be constructed in Coconut Grove in over a decade. The two 20-story buildings twist at a 38-degree angle, optimizing views, outdoor spaces, and the flexibility of the floor plans. The generous cantilevered balconies create ample outdoor spaces while providing views at every level and necessary shade from the Florida sun. Last week, the opening of the W Pompano Beach sales gallery marked an exciting milestone for this remarkable project. A collaboration between developers Related Group and BH Group Miami, W Pompano Beach brings together the vision of an all-star design team. Nichols Architects is proud to lead as Architects of Record, alongside KORA Architecture & Design as the design architects, Enea Landscape Architecture for the lush landscape architecture, and Meyer Davis team for the sophisticated interiors. Working with such a talented team has been an inspiring journey, and this property is set to make a bold statement in South Florida’s skyline. We can’t wait to see it come to life!

What an honor it’s been to design for Miami Beach’s most iconic property! The Fontainebleau Coastal Convention Center is now officially open, marking an exciting new chapter for this legendary destination. A special thanks to everyone who contributed to this project, specially to Luis Sanchez and Jorge Mantilla, whose dedication helped bring this masterpiece to life.

Another landmark destination is coming to Pompano Beach! We're proud to share the new W Hotel & Residences, a collaboration with Related Group and BH Group Miami. This striking 24-story tower will host 77 luxury condo units and 296 condo-hotel suites, setting a new benchmark for hospitality in the area. The project has garnered praise since its reveal last week, and we’re excited to be leading its design, blending the bold identity of the W Hotels brand with an elevated beachside lifestyle. In collaboration with our partners at KORA ARCHITECTURE D.P.C. and Meyer Davis, we drew inspiration from the fluidity of the ocean, incorporating soft, wavy lines that respond to the elements—wind, water, and light—capturing the true essence of beach living. Last week, Nichols Architects’ Igor Reyes joined the FLDCP Florida Design and Construction Professionals November Luncheon, speaking to a dynamic group of professionals int he AEC industry. Drawing from our deep-rooted expertise in hospitality design, Igor shared insights on how Broward County’s unique character shapes its projects. While South Florida might seem like a single, seamless region, our work in projects such as the Auberge Beach Residences and Spa Fort Lauderdale has shown how local communities have their own identity and nuances. Another exciting milestone for Nichols Architects: Ocean Park has been unanimously approved by the Fort Lauderdale Planning and Zoning Board! This two-building project sits on a long, narrow site, directly across from the city’s fire station and the stunning Hugh Taylor Birch State Park. Designed to maximize its unique location, the project features sweeping terraces that provide uninterrupted views of surrounding parks and waterways. The pronounced vertical elements, along with curved terraces and window walls, seamlessly blend the indoors with the outdoors, creating a strong connection between the natural environment and living spaces. Organic colors and lush landscaping reinforce this design vision, unifying the two distinct buildings while enhancing the overall visual experience. With a 14-story, 76-unit multifamily residential building and a 5-story parking garage that includes an amenities deck with a pickleball court, Ocean Park is a well-rounded, thoughtfully designed development.
