We are constantly amazed by the amount of passion, empathy, and creativity our participants bring with them everywhere they go. Recently, Kyle came to the Vocational Skills team with an idea and a mission: to raise funds for those affected by the recent tragic fires in LA. ?? "As a person-centered program, this project speaks to the heart of what we strive to do at TNC – tapping into the interests and skills of our participants while offering vocational experiences. In this case, Kyle was moved to help after seeing the devastation from the LA fires. Using his powerful design, we created an apparel project offering valuable vocational skills practice for our participants, who assisted with apparel orders, heat pressing, packaging, sales and more!" - Boris Yagudayev, Supervisor of Vocational Services. We are proud to say that Kyle's project has raised almost $1000 to date which will be donated to the fire relief efforts of an LA nonprofit which specializes in fighting for social justice and disability rights. The Nicholas Center Vocational Training team has been experimenting with turning old crayons into something new! ????? ?? By collecting and repurposing unused and broken crayons, we’ve created beautiful, swirly, colorful homemade crayons to donate to local pantries and school districts, spreading the joy of art and recycling throughout our community.
