What can we say? If you are a New Yorker of a certain generation -- actually, a New York from one of a few generations -- Charles Scarborough has visited your home, possibly thousands of times. This is a first-rate local broadcast journalist of the quality that seem rarer and rarer with each passing year. And now he's retiring from the anchor chair, after more than a half-century at WNBC. Nicholas & Lence Communications sends him our most heart-felt congratulations, and is more than a little surprised how emotional we feel about the whole thing. Watching his sign off on Thursday night, we think he is a little bit, too. #wnbc #broadcast #journalism #nyc

New tests for Alzheimer's Disease and biomarkers for the disease promise early help for sufferers. But when is too much testing, well, too much testing? And when is too early? Here, Dr. Keith Vossel of UCLA weighs-in with some trenchant thoughts in the Los Angeles Times, where he writes often on cognitive issues. Nicholas & Lence Communications is proud to work with Dr. Vossel and his team. #UCLA #alzheimers #losangeles #disease #dementia #clinician

Well, today's the day. Run, don't walk to the polls. And if it's all too much -- no matter which team you are on -- perhaps they'll be some solace in laughter. That's what Caroline Hirsch, the lengedary founder of Caroline's and the New York Comedy Festival (starts this week) has to say in today's Daily News. Have a read, have a laugh, give it some thought. Nicholas & Lence Communications is proud to work with Caroline and her team. #election #comedy #jonstewart #caroline #newyorkcomedyfestival

Have they no shame? Scammers are ripping-off tourists who want to visit the Statue of Liberty. They sell tickets to boats that pass Liberty Island but never disembark passengers there. They charge to enter Battery Park (it's free). They even charged one unhappy family $200 to take the Staten Island Ferry (it's free, too). Some estimate that 50 to 80 full-time scammers ripoff 2,000-3,000 people a day. Mike Burke, the COO of Statue City Cruises, has had it up to here with the scammers -- and with the Parks Department's failure to crack down on them, and even to ask for a special fee to chase them away. Some nerve. This has been going on for years. Let's clean it up, folks -- this is Lady Liberty. Rich Calder lays it all out for us in the New York Post. Prepare to be outraged. Nicholas & Lence Communications is proud to work with Mike and his team. #liberty #scam #scammers #batterypark #nyc #ferries

There was only one Jimmy Breslin, and there is only one Richard Esposito. Now, Esposito, who's held verious cool jobs at New York newspapers and television stations, gives the the legendary columnist the full biograhical treatment. On Sunday the News excerpted the pulse-pounding section devoted to Breslin's columns during the notorious Son of Sam killings (also known as the "44-caliber Killer") in the brutal hot summer of '76. "Espo" is a friend to the firm, and we wish him luck with this fine work. Beautiful! #breslin #dailynews #sonofsam #nyc #serialkiller #journalism #books #authors

SBH Health System in The Bronx (formerly St. Barnabas Hospital), wants to treat patients long before they become patients, by improving the health of everyone in the neighborhood. And one way to achieve this goal is by eating healthy. Here, Roger Clark of NY1, our favorite up-before-dawn-everyday reporter in town, visits the hospital's expansive rooftop garden. The goodies grown there are for sale at the hospital's Wednesday market, and are used in its teaching kitchen. Nicholas & Lence Communications is proud to work with the great team at SBH. #bronx #garden #vegetables #health

We've loved watching all the affection and respect pouring out for the great actor James Earl Jones, who died earlier this week, whether those praising him knew him from the powerful roles of his early career, or his voice as Darth Vader. But here we'd like to praise another huge talent -- Robert McFadden, the legendary rewrite man from The New York Times who retired recently. His lede on Jones' obituary is such a magical thing of beauty and wonderment -- how did he do that? -- that it begs to be read and read again. It is a sentence for the ages. (And no, we didn't mispell "lead." That's how newspaper folks spell it, because in olden times the guys in composing room used lead type, and the same spelling could have led to all kinds of foul ups.) Anyway, hats off to McFadden, and farewell JEG. We will miss you both. #times #nyt #jamesearljones #newspaper #lede

"When he talks, he does the walk." That's Ret. Firefighter Danny Prince talking about Gary Sinise, the actor and veteran's advocate who had lunch at the firehouse for Engine Company 280/Ladder 132?in Crown Heights last week. He also brought a check from the Gary Sinise Foundation. If you are a New Yorker with a few decades here under your belt, you know that that first cool day of September, which used to bring such joy, is now tinged with sadness as we remember 9/11. Sinise, famous for his role as Lieutenant Dan in "Forrest Gump," was here to show support for New York's first responders, and to appear with the Lt. Dan Band. Check it all out in this smart report from Greg Mocker at WPIX11, a favorite of ours. Nicholas & Lence Communications is proud to work with Sinise and his team. #firefighters #sept11 #9/11 #sinise #forrestgump #veterans #vietnam https://lnkd.in/eFdP_pTE

Wendy Hilliard was a champion gymnast who was told she wasn't right for the 1984 USA Olympics team because she "stood out too much." At the time, there were very few Black female gymnasts. Well, that was then, and this is now. We've seen Simon Biles and Jordan Chiles rock the mat in Paris. Wendy has taught hundreds of young women this beautiful sport, and now in the pages of the Los Angeles Times she calling on the City of Los Angeles to do the right then when the summer Olympics comes its way in 2028. Read her insightful and powerful essay here. Nicholas & Lence Communications is proud to work with Wendy and her team. #wendyhilliard #olympics #gymnastics #sports #communications #losangeles #paris
