Yesterday,?Southern Oregon Regional Economic Development, Inc. (SOREDI)?hosted the 2025?State of the Rogue Valley Breakfast, bringing together key businesses and leaders in the region. A highlight of the event:?NIC Industries CEO Brian Hall?received the?Ingenuity Award, a well-earned recognition of his 20+ years of leadership. The award paired well with Brian’s presentation on NIC’s history, followed by a lively Q&A. Over the years, NIC has expanded its global footprint while staying deeply rooted in Oregon. More recently, we’ve been focused on strengthening our?local and regional impact—and one of the best ways to do that is by engaging with the incredible businesses here. Congratulations?to?Javier, Seneca, and Shane?from?Phoenix (Oregon) High School’s DECA Team?on their?1st place state win?last night in Portland! They tackled a real-world challenge in a mock setting:?pitching an AI strategy to a CEO. Their solution? A?22-page written proposal and verbal presentation?outlining how NIC Industries could?implement a comprehensive AI program—complete with?budgets, KPIs, and execution plans. NIC was proud to invest in these students, providing?mentorship, facility tours, and conversations with our CEO. They took that access and delivered a?well-earned victory. Next up:?the International Career Development Conference?in?Orlando?this April. DECA Inc. is a nationwide program that prepares emerging leaders in?marketing, finance, hospitality, and management. We were honored to support this team’s journey and will be?cheering them on?as they continue their success.

NIC is excited to announce that we have officially joined the Pacific Northwest Defense Coalition (PNDC) - a regional network of nearly 300 companies in the Northwest that drive defense innovation and economic growth. This partnership?expands our role in the defense industry, creating new opportunities to collaborate with?top-tier manufacturers and suppliers. As a company rooted in?Southern Oregon, we’re committed to strengthening regional manufacturing and take pride in supporting?national security advancements. Yesterday, Jackson County Fire District 3 hosted eleven NIC team members at their HQ firefighter training grounds for hands-on instruction in self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) systems. This training collaboration equipped NIC’s Emergency Response Team with critical skills to assist first responders in gaining clearer perspectives in challenging environments. We’re grateful for JCD3’s willingness to partner with NIC - it’s initiatives like these that help us safeguard our people, facilities, and community.

Community success starts with investments in the next generation. With that in mind, we had the privilege of hosting a group from the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Rogue Valley. During their visit, these sharp youths explored the many innovations happening at NIC and saw how values like teamwork, creativity, and a pursuit of excellence drive our success. NIC is proud to support the growth of our region’s youth, and we look forward to working closely with the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Rogue Valley to make a lasting impact.

Our earnest prayers are with the firefighters from Southern Oregon’s Strike Team 6 (including those from the Medford Fire Department) as they head to combat the devastating fires in Los Angeles. To all those affected, our hearts are with you. And to the first responders on the frontlines — thank you for your courage and service.

Today, NIC had the privilege of hosting some bright young minds from Henley High School’s Engineering and Robotics Program. This group, led by Dr. Kristi Lebkowsky, marks NIC’s first student visit from Klamath County. With a focus on NIC’s Engineering Team and operations, the students were offered insider-access into company culture, robotics platforms, and our mission to dominate the coatings space. We’re wholeheartedly committed to stewarding the impact NIC makes on the world; this includes our investment into the next generation of innovators.
