This week, TEF staff went on a tour of our bundle of projects at the Presidio of San Francisco! As part of the Presidio Forward initiative, TEF completed work on the rehabilitation of historic Buildings 2, 40, and 102 at the Presidio of San Francisco. Targeting LEED Gold certification, this effort transforms these iconic structures into desirable, lease-ready commercial spaces. Building 2, originally constructed as a Civil War-era hospital, Building 40, a World War II-era Bachelor Officers’ Quarters, and Building 102, a 19th-century artillery barracks, will be adapted for modern use while preserving their historical significance. These projects are key to preserving the Presidio’s character and supporting its mission as a National Historic Landmark District. Funded by a landmark investment, this bundle of projects supports the Presidio Trust’s strategy to generate revenue through leasing, ensuring the park remains free and open to the public. The rehabilitation involves adaptive reuse, carefully balancing modern infrastructure needs with historic preservation. TEF’s work includes updating the buildings with sustainable design practices and infrastructure improvements, making them attractive to commercial tenants while retaining their historical charm. Nibbi is proud to announce the completion of Maudelle Miller Shirek Community, a six-story affordable housing development in Berkeley. The community is now welcoming its first residents! Developed by Resources for Community Development and designed by MWA Architects, Inc., this vibrant community provides 87 affordable apartments and essential community and commercial spaces. The project is dedicated to Maudelle Miller Shirek, a lifelong advocate and leader in Berkeley’s Black community. It also includes space for HEALTHY BLACK FAMILIES, a local non-profit that provides people with knowledge, skills, and strategies to make social systems and policies more equitable for Black people and communities. Healthy Black Families, along with resident services, will offer vital support to tenants and strengthen the surrounding community.
