My Nana, Loraine Byrd Fields-Latham, or affectionately known as Smiley taught us this: THE ONLY TIME YOU LOOK DOWN ON SOMEONE IS IF YOU ARE EXTENDING A HAND DOWN TO HELP THEM UP! This is how my family and I seek to live our lives. Smiley’s powerful statement transcends to Jodi and I book, Letters To My Younger Self. It is important we teach children and remind adults that our differences are to be seen, understood, respected and celebrated. There is no place for anything less than Agape love. It doesn’t matter if you are Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Jewish or Atheist. It doesn’t matter if your political party is represented by a donkey or an elephant. And as one of my favorite Pastors, Dr. E Dewey Smith says, our hope shouldn’t be on a donkey or a elephant, but on a LAMB ?? ??
