Today is Latina Equal Pay Day, October 3, 2024, the approximate day — 277 days into the year — a Latina woman must work into the new year to make what white non-Hispanic man made at the end of 2023. According to our Status of Women report, the wage gap for Latina women compared to non-Hispanic white men in New Hampshire is $0.63 (cents). The 2024 New Hampshire Primary election was notable in that voters from both major parties elected women at the top of their tickets — for Governor and for the Second Congressional District— in an election year when abortion and the cost of living are important issues. When women run, they win just as often as men, therefore, both parties, particularly Republicans, need to recruit more women to run for the State House and Senate in order to reach parity.
