September is National Suicide Awareness Month, and it's a time for us to come together as a community to support those who may be struggling with thoughts of suicide.
The Vermont National Guard is committed to promoting mental health and well-being among our members and their families, and we want to remind everyone that help is always available.
If you or someone you know is in crisis, please reach out to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255) or text "VT" to 741741 to reach the Crisis Text Line. Both of these resources are available 24/7 and are confidential.
Additionally, the Vermont National Guard offers a number of resources to support mental health and well-being, including:
? The Chaplain Corps, which provides spiritual and emotional support to our members and their families. Contact the Chaplain Corps at (802) 338-3000.
? The Behavioral Health Team, which offers counseling and therapy services to help members cope with stress, anxiety, and depression. Contact the Behavioral Health Team at (802) 338-3460.
? The Employee Assistance Program (EAP), which provides confidential counseling and referral services to help members address personal and work-related issues. Contact the EAP at (800) 828-6025.
We encourage all members of the Vermont National Guard community to take care of themselves and each other, and to seek help if they are struggling. Together, we can make a difference in promoting mental health and preventing suicide.
Please feel free to share this post with your network and help spread the word about the importance of mental health and suicide prevention. Thank you for your support.
