The National Forum for Black Public Administrators (NFBPA) is the professional membership organization dedicated to the advancement of Black leadership in the public sector. The South Florida Chapter was founded in 1983 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and the NFBPA membership has grown to include managers and executives in virtually all disciplines represented in state and local governments. In addition to public service professionals, the association’s membership embraces graduate students, deans and faculty at schools of public administration, community service professionals and executives in the corporate sector. The mission of NFBPA South Florida Chapter is to develop, cultivate, and foster Black professionals in the field of Public Administration. Objective #1 - To serve as a magnet organization for linking public, private and academic institutions into an effective network to support blacks in choosing public service careers. Objective #2 - To provide intensive and rigorous training in critical management areas in response to the specialized needs of black public sector professionals. Objective #3 - To identify and groom younger, emerging Black administrators and provide relevant exposure to the challenges and rewards of public service careers. Objective #4 - To sponsor and conduct forums and public outreach to address the needs of public management and the black community. Objective #5 - To promote, strengthen and expand the roles of blacks in all aspects of public administration.
