A recent study from Pathrise revealed a very concerning statistic. ?? Ready? The average job seeker needs to submit 294 applications before securing a position. Let that sink in. Now, let’s say it takes roughly 30 minutes to apply to each job (including research, customizing your resume, and filling out forms), that's 147 hours of your life spent on applications alone. As recruitment professionals we have to find a better way.

As a seasoned recruiter with over two decades of experience, I've witnessed numerous market cycles, but the current tech hiring landscape is truly unprecedented. Right now, internal recruiters are experiencing a golden age of candidate abundance. With recent layoffs and market uncertainties, we're seeing an influx of highly qualified candidates flooding our inboxes and application portals. It's not uncommon to receive hundreds of applications for a single position, giving us an embarrassment of riches when it comes to talent selection. This abundance won't last forever. The tech job market is already showing signs of recovery and growth. In fact, there are currently 211,000 open tech jobs, up 29.5% from the low point in March 2023. This upward trend is expected to continue, with CompTIA projecting that tech occupation employment will grow at about twice the rate of overall employment across the economy over the next decade. What's more, the demand for specialized skills, particularly in AI and data, is skyrocketing. We've seen a 5.6% increase in AI job vacancies from Q1 to Q2 of 2024 alone, with median salaries for these roles reaching an impressive $157,1965. This surge in demand for niche skills is likely to create a talent shortage in certain areas. As the market shifts, we're likely to see a return to the candidate-driven market we experienced pre-2023. The tech unemployment rate, which has already dropped to 2.5% as of October 2024, indicates that we're heading towards a scenario where there are more jobs than job seekers. To my fellow recruiters: enjoy this moment of candidate abundance, but prepare for the pendulum to swing. The challenge of attracting top talent in a competitive market is just around the corner. It's time to refine your recruiting strategies and start getting recruiting partners in place. The war for tech talent is about to heat up again! #TechHiring #RecruitingTrends #TalentAcquisition

?? Controversial Opinion Alert ?? Big Tech talent might be KILLING your startup! ?? I just read a thought-provoking article that challenges everything we thought we knew about hiring 'top talent' from FAANG companies. Here's some shocking truth: ? Many Big Tech hires FAIL in startup environments ? Some can't even answer basic coding questions ? They often focus on processes over innovations Is the 'prestige' of Big Tech blinding us to real talent? Are we sacrificing agility for outdated skills? Is it time to rethink hiring strategies? Maybe the next unicorn founder is hiding in a small, scrappy startup instead of Google or Meta. What do you think? Is Big Tech experience overrated for startups? Let's hear your thoughts. ?? #StartupHiring #TechTalent #ControversialOpinion"
