Before moving into her current position at Beyond Type 1, Seema was President & CEO of Up with People in a role that she describes as a masterclass in organizational transformation. “In the wake of the pandemic, I faced unprecedented challenges that demanded bold leadership. I led a strategy to redesign and reimagine programs, prioritizing youth development not just for operational growth but to preserve a legacy while creating a sustainable future for the next generation of leaders.” Prior to her time at Up with People Seema was at Global Education & Leadership Foundation (TGELF), where she learned the balance between vision and perseverance. "Last week I had the pleasure of getting to know yet another amazing female leader who has been effected by the down stream impacts of the *Rump Administration's executive orders. If you, or anyone you know, is in the healthcare strategy or policy space, you should get to know Junelle Speller! Junelle is a dynamic health care executive with over 25 years of experience in health care policy, strategy, and management. Her expertise spans digital health technology, health care systems, quality improvement, and specific conditions including kidney disease and organ transplantation. Until part of a restructuring and reduction in force recently, Junelle served as Senior Vice President of Health Care Strategy at NORC at the University of Chicago, where she led a multidisciplinary team of consultants to deliver strategic insights on critical topics such as health care affordability, workforce challenges, disease management, and post-acute care. Junelle is a fellow alum from Kellogg Graduate School of Management, and has served in leadership roles for the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, where she spearheaded the development and launch of large-scale rare disease registries and drove strategy and partnerships. She has also been a management consultant and spent nearly 15 years in health policy to advance quality for the American Academy of Pediatrics. Junelle's deep commitment and expertise in healthcare policy stem not only from her professional experience but also her personal lived experience as she lives with a rare chronic disease herself. I am most confident that Junelle will land an even brighter and better role as she looks ahead. Her work has been fierce thus far and anyone would be deeply fortunate to have her leading their team!" - Candance Chow, NextGroup CoFounder
