In case you missed it, @Scott B. Van Voorhis put out a very good read on the rents in Boston. We had a great discussion on on the challenges developers face in Boston.? ? I expressed my concerns about the feasibility of affordability requirements, particularly that 20% of units in new buildings must be rented below market rates. This comes at a time when financing new projects is next to impossible. Supply is a central issue; we simply aren't producing enough housing. In fact, I've never seen more development deals on my desk than now. ? Clearly, we need to create incentives, lessen regulations and streamline processes for development to address these challenges. ?
