I know this much. We are here, and we will continue to care and rise together.
This morning was tough. We began to receive calls from survivors who are asking big questions around safety, security, self-efficacy, and immigration.? We find ourselves in a place of unknown, worry, and even fear.? The truth is that we have been here before and we know that the power of community is unstoppable.? We are both resistance and resilience.?
And we are here.
There are days, months, years, and cycles where showing up for our community, for survivors, is easier, and there are times where it is much more challenging.? How each week at Next Door Solutions flows is definitely influenced by what is happening in the country, and in the world. How people understand and work to prevent harm that is happening shapes the needs of survivors, the funding we need to do the work, the number of requests for help and support we see, and the way it feels for all of us to work as collaborators and partners in anti-violence work.
We are here, and the staff and family of Next Door Solutions will hold fast to our values, robustly and with intention.? We will not stray from our goal to ensure that all can access safety, healing, and support.
We are not new to struggle, fear, crisis, or the need to organize.
We are here and will be here for each other and all those that need it.
We will not give in to fear, misogyny, racism, sexism, transphobia, or xenophobia.? We will continue to partner, collaborate, resist, create, and serve.?
If you want to join us, please do, and if you need us, we are here and listening.
In Solidarity, Love, and Community,
Colsaria Henderson
