“Bad ‘ship’ happens…it remains the case that people are shipping bad software. Bad ship happens because people release software all at once, they aren’t monitoring or bringing observability to their release processes, and now with AI, people are rushing to launch stuff to keep up.” At our annual meeting, Dan Rogers, former President of Rubrik and current CEO of LaunchDarkly, offered valuable insights on his journey between two major tech startups, discussed how to transform a company into a “movement,” and highlighted the common challenges that arise in today’s ai-fueled software landscape. Dan, we appreciate your valuable perspectives and thoughtful input. Thank you for joining us and enriching us with your knowledge! #NextLegacy #VentureCapital #Software #ThePursuitOfExcellence

At the core of Venture Capital are the exceptional investors who drive the success of their firms. As we look back on our Annual Meeting, one standout moment was with Tomasz Tunguz, General Partner at Theory Ventures. Tomasz’s journey is truly inspiring—from launching a software business as a high school junior to becoming the first student to earn three degrees in four years at Dartmouth. After graduating, he climbed the ranks from an entry-level customer support rep, to receiving an award for being the top 1% of employees at Google, jumping into the world of venture with a 14-year stint at Redpoint, and then going on to start Theory Ventures. In his conversation with Next Legacy's Managing Partner Ben Choi, he emphasized the importance of building a firm grounded in conviction and research, his passion for conducting deep research and pursuing alpha-seeking strategies, and dedicating the time and effort to develop investment theses, whether it takes days or months. Thank you, Tomasz, for sharing your invaluable insights with us!

“The firm has to identify real talent and nurture that real talent. You’ve got to give them lots of opportunities because even somebody who is good can be unlucky and fail. As a firm, you have to make sure you have people that are going to work through that.” - Ben Choi Thank you, David Zhou, for featuring Ben Choi, managing partner of Next Legacy Partners, in this Superclusters series alongside Lisa Cawley, CFA, and Jaclyn Freeman Hester. We're excited to give you an inside look into our annual meeting! This year, we had the honor of gathering our investors to celebrate our longstanding Bay Area roots. Being based in Silicon Valley means we sit at the epicenter of the venture capital, technology, philanthropic, and sports ecosystems, and our deep history and relationships with each are core to what we do. We heard from Next Legacy's partners, Russ Hall, Ryan Nece, Ben Choi, Kelli Cullinane, John N. Ailanjian, CFA, and Jessie Jia Guo, who shared more about the venture environment and our strategy, highlighted key investment metrics, and explored what's next for the firm. The day was filled with fascinating discussions from our guest speakers, including GP of Theory Ventures Tomasz Tunguz, LaunchDarkly's CEO Dan Rogers, Office of Reid Hoffman’s Content Strategist Ben Relles, and San Francisco 49ers GM John Lynch. They shared their expertise on a range of topics, from how investors think about AI, to the path to becoming a successful CEO, the way AI is shaping the way we interact with content, and what it takes to excel in a high-stakes sports environment. In the coming weeks, we look forward to highlighting the key insights that our knowledgeable speakers shared. Thank you to the Next Legacy Partners team for your hard work in making this year's Annual Meeting an outstanding success! Ryan Nece Ben Choi Kelli Cullinane John N. Last week, we had the privilege of hosting Bay FC owners and athletes Leslie Osborne Lewis, Aly Wagner, Melissa Lowder, Emily Menges, Tess Boade, Jennifer Beattie, Alexis Loera, and Rachel Hill for an afternoon of diving into "VC-101." Despite the season being in full swing, these athletes made time to show up with a tremendous amount of energy and eagerness to participate, learn, and develop their skills off the field where they can. Their hunger for excellence in all they do is truly inspiring, and it is our honor to help bridge the gap between these elite individuals and our worlds of tech and venture capital. Thank you ladies for such a rewarding and inspiring experience! #NextLegacy #BayFC #VentureCapital #Athletes #NWSL

This week's 9th Annual Iron Sharpens Iron in San Francisco was truly inspiring!??? ? In this intimate, off-the-record conversation, speakers Deborah Liu and Lance Armstrong shared candidly about the stepping stones and opportunities they have encountered on their continual pursuit of excellence. Where they grew up, how they quickly landed in spotlights, and the importance of finding inner peace and confidence were all common threads that have shaped these two elite individuals and their careers. ? A special thank you to everybody who came and to our outstanding partners, J.P. Morgan, Aduro Advisors, Cooley LLP, and NYSE for helping make this night possible. ? #IronSharpensIron #DebLiu #LanceArmstrong #Resilience #Motivation #ThePursuitofExcellence #RookieDetermination #NextLegacy
