Next Gen Talent is a development program for emerging HR leaders. Given the complexities in the workplace and the talent shortage, the need is great for strong HR/talent leadership. Next Gen Talent was developed to address this need and build a strong pipeline of highly qualified human resources professionals in targeted markets (currently Indianapolis and Chicago). Next Gen Talent equips early career HR and talent leaders with the business acumen necessary to drive change and lead through the challenges that businesses face. The two-year program is led by seasoned human resources professionals and consultants, and utilizes the expertise of guest speakers who are proficient in various aspects of the business industry. The program focuses on building business skills such as sales and marketing, technology, finance, networking, operational excellence and professional speaking. Participants are selected via an application process and, once accepted, commit to the full two-year program.

HR mentorship is a journey that can transform both the mentor and mentee over time. What usually begins as a stratified relationship, with the mentor providing direct guidance and the mentee asking all the questions, can gradually evolve into a mutually beneficial learning experience. In the early stages, mentors typically focus on sharing fundamental knowledge, provide direction, and help mentees navigate challenges. The relationship is often structured, with regular meetings and specific learning objectives. Mentees concentrate on building core competencies and understanding the tactical day to day work. As mentees gain confidence and expertise, the relationship shifts. The mentor's role evolves from instructor to sounding board, offering more strategic guidance rather than direct answers. Mentees begin contributing their own insights and taking more initiative in directing their learning journey. The most interesting transformation occurs when the relationship matures into a collaborative partnership. The mentee may develop expertise in areas the mentor lacks. This creates opportunities for the mentee to become the mentor, where both parties learn from each other's unique perspectives and experiences. Eventually, many mentorship relationships evolve beyond their professional origins into lasting friendships or peer relationships. The formal structure may disappear, but the connection and mutual support continue. This evolution reflects both parties' growth and creates a lasting relationship that extends beyond the initial mentorship goals. The key to successful mentorship is allowing the relationship to grow organically while preserving the core elements of trust, respect, and mutual learning. Do you have a mentor story to share?
