New Wave Offshore is pleased to present Dynamic Positioning Safety during offshore wind installations to AXIS (AXIS Capital). ? DP is utilized on heavy lift vessels, SOVs, WTIVs, and others during offshore wind turbine installations. ? In this presentation, we will highlight areas critical to safety regarding the use of DP, including equipment, processes, and position reference system setup. DP vessels should operate within a defined set of operating parameters that are agreed upon before each project commences. If they operate outside of these confines, costly incidents can occur.? ? We believe in operating under only the safest possible circumstances and work with our clients to execute a thorough review of the DP System, recent testing, critical maintenance, crew competence, and vessel history. #dynamicpositioning #safety #offshore #wind #energy

What does coffee have to do with Marine Warranty Surveying (MWS)? ? The story begins in the 17th century when coffee was first imported to the UK. After much of the city was destroyed in the Great Fire of London in 1666, coffee shops all over the city became the meeting place for business. Upon moving to London, Edward Lloyd opened his own coffee shop in the 1680s near the River Thames, which catered to the maritime industry and became the meeting place for ship owners and captains to share shipping information. Lloyd's coffee shop became the center of marine intelligence and founded the modern insurance industry. Since then, the marine insurance industry and underwriting market have grown exponentially, and London is home to the world's largest commercial and specialty risk insurance market. As offshore operations became more operationally complex, inherently riskier, and expensive in the 1970s, a need for impartial review arose to ensure that the agreed-upon warranties of projects were met. Underwriters needed additional assurances from an independent third party to certify that marine risks were managed to acceptable standards. Enter the Marine Warranty Surveyor. The Marine Warranty Surveyor's role is to act on behalf of and protect the interests of the Insurer and the Assured as a third-party reviewer of a project's documentation, equipment, procedures, and operations to ensure they meet agreed safety standards. Once confirmed, the Surveyor issues a Certificate of Approval (COA). To be appointed as a Marine Warranty Surveyor, a company must be on the insurance slip and deemed experienced and worthy of completing all scopes required of a Surveyor.?
