Last week, we convened New Visions Continuous Improvement Coaches, school-based Attendance Coordinators, and District Attendance Teachers all in one place, working together to tackle chronic absenteeism in a strategic and impactful way. Together, our teams developed a shared understanding for engaging and supporting students; established a collaborative workflow between attendance coordinators; and gained deeper insights into the impactful strategies needed to address more complex student needs. A huge thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to these meaningful discussions! Together, we’re building stronger systems to empower every student.

Last month, students in the New Visions Career Academies shared their capstone presentations with corporate volunteers, New Visions staff, and their school community. The Academy students spent weeks working with our corporate partners, and these presentations were an inspiring testament to students’ commitment to this work-based learning experience. The New Visions Career Academy program reflects our commitment to expanding access to authentic work-based learning experiences for students while still in high school. Our Academies are five-week programs that equip rising 11th graders with work-based learning experiences, career-readiness skills, and exposure to high-growth sectors like Finance and Tech — all in collaboration with our valued corporate partners and their dedicated employees. This model supports meaningful and lasting partnerships between the private sector, public schools, and educators to support students’ career pathways and goals.
