We have been fascinated with tools for as long as we can remember. Not just traditional “tools” like hammers or screwdrivers, but the idea of “tools” more broadly. A pen, paintbrush, drafting machines, typewriters, computers, axes, medical instruments, chainsaws, telescopes – objects that are extensions of us designed for a speci?c purpose. Our goal is to transform the overlooked and unappreciated, into what might be considered “Good Tools.”

URBN just opened their 600,000sf distribution center in Raymore, MO for their subscription clothing rental service, NUULY. Working on this project was a wonderful opportunity to design and implement a cutting-edge process for their operations as an expansion of their Bristol, PA facilities. NewStudio Architecture worked closely with Nuuly’s leadership to develop this facility in a way that can scale quickly and easily as their business grows. Set in a pastoral landscape, Terrain at DelVal combines rustic charm with modern amenities. Previously the Market at DelVal barn, the restored space includes a retail store, nursery, garden cafe, and indoor and outdoor event spaces. The farmhouse architecture features high ceilings, skylights, natural wood floors, vintage fixtures, and a wirework garden vine treillage. Terrain’s design team generated the idea, and NewStudio helped to detail it and make it buildable as AOR.

NewStudio is ever proud to be a part of the creative teams that bring life to the bricks and mortar of Anthropologie URBN (Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie Group, Free People & Nuuly) !
For the first nine months of this fiscal, sales at Anthropologie have risen by 12.3% over the prior year. By any standards, this is impressive. In the latest quarter, the brand grew new customers by slightly over 25% in North America. Again this is highly impressive and was no doubt helped by a big new marketing campaign - "Falling for Anthro". Marketing can pull in new shoppers, but retailers also need to make sure that they are engaged once they enter stores or land on the website. Here, Anthropologie does a fantastic job. The pictures below are its latest holiday store sets. They're bright, colorful, and very engaging. They are also very shoppable with lots of editing, outfit suggestions, and minimal clutter. To put a twist on a famous movie line, the lesson is: put in the effort, and they will buy! #retail #retailnews #merchandising #stores

To close out their first exhibition together, OTHER SIGNIFICANCE, Tucson- and Minneapolis-based artists Brandi Kole and Rock CYFI Martinez have created new works to be featured only during the closing party, on Friday, October 20, 5-8 p.m., at NewStudio Gallery in St. Paul. Brandi Kole, a mixed-fiber artist, and Rock Martinez, an internationally known aerosol artist, are married to each other and married to their work. In OTHER SIGNIFICANCE they explore the intersection of their identities and approaches to art making. All of the work is available for purchase.
