Phoenix at 36N, the first of the seven-phase Comanche Park redevelopment, marks the beginning of Tulsa’s largest investment in affordable housing. Leveraging a $50 million HUD Choice Neighborhoods grant, Phoenix at 36N will provide 100 energy-efficient, mixed-income apartments along with ground-floor retail, direct access to public transit, and elevated amenities, such as a fitness center, resident lounge, and outdoor common areas. It is an honor to partner with Tulsa Housing Authority and City of Tulsa as we transform a former public housing site into a vibrant community with 545 mixed-income apartments and single-family homes. Our station, KOTV - The News On 6, has introduced a newer concept to storytelling called "In Focus," which allows us to expand a story with many different elements. This in-focus report is a follow up to an apartment complex that forced 200 families out a few years ago due to major safety issues. Residents filed a class action lawsuit and finally got paid recently-- but they said the trauma from being kicked out with nowhere to go still haunts them to this day. At OCSRI, we're incredibly proud of our very own Dr. Connie Nguyen. Five years ago, our dedicated radiation oncologist faced her own breast cancer diagnosis with immense courage and the loving support of her family. "I hope that I provide the care that the patients look for... [and] the empathy that patients look for. It teaches you who you are. How strong you can be."
