  • The Newport News Police Department is making great strides in advancing women in policing through its commitment to the 30x30 national initiative. The 30×30 Initiative is built on decades of research showing women officers' unique benefits to policing agencies. The goal is to have at least 30% female officers by 2030. With the national average currently at 12%, at NNPD, we’re making excellent progress and are proud to report that 22% of our sworn officers are women.
