关于我们
Newport News Behavioral Health Center is a secure 108-bed residential treatment facility serving males and females, ages 11–18. The staff utilizes a cognitive behavioral treatment model that encourages youth to safely explore thoughts and feelings related to the development of positive and desirable behavior within their homes and communities. Our programs are designed to provide each individual resident quality mental health treatment in a safe and secure therapeutic environment. The new acute care facility is located adjacent to the residential treatment facility. The acute care program provides stabilization to children and adolescents, ages 8 to 17, who suffer from mental health crises. We strive to provide a positive and successful educational experience for our students by assisting them in developing their skills and academic learning strategies.

Dr. Donna Miekiff delivered an engaging and educational trauma-informed care training to our leadership team. Because the leadership team is the driving force behind both the operational and direct care of treatment, it is vital that they have a clear understanding of what trauma-informed care is. We are committed to giving our youth the very best, and it starts with the leadership team.

"It's the little things that matter!" says Mr. Demetruis Skipwith, who organized a surprise breakfast event to celebrate the mothers who worked the weekend. We celebrate them because the resilience, compassion and sacrifice they bring to the workplace as mothers. In the photo is our formidable Lead Mental Health Technician, Chloe Butts, and Mental Health Technician, Symaya Campbell. We hope all of the mothers on our staff had a wonderful day.
