Together, we will keep books in the hands of our youth and continue to divert recyclable material from landfill. Have old books lying around the house? Come drop them off at our 24/7 Book Collection Station. As the recycling arm of Newman & Company, USRI sources recovered fiber to produce its 100% recycled, high-quality paperboard. Fun fact! Books are an extremely viable feedstock source, as groundwood content allows for the manufacturing of paperboard to be turned into luxury boxes, gameboards, puzzles, book covers & more! We are proud to be a part of this major industry milestone and pioneer paper cup recycling at our chipboard mill in Philadelphia, PA. This emphasizes our commitment and ongoing effort to divert valuable fiber feedstock away from landfills.
Today, the NextGen Consortium, an industry collaboration managed by the Center for the Circular Economy at Closed Loop Partners, and the Foodservice Packaging Institute announced a major milestone in paper cup recycling in the U.S. Multiple paper mills have announced that they will now accept single-use polyethylene (PE)-coated paper cups at their facilities. This brings the total number of North American mills accepting paper cups to more than 40, marking signi?cant progress as demand for recycled ?ber content grows in the U.S. The new mills to accept cups include Newman & Company, Philadelphia, PA; PaperWorks Industries, Wabash, IN; Resolute Forest Products, MENOMINEE MILLWORK & LUMBER CO, MI; Greif Mill Group in Austell, GA and Milwaukee, WI, among others listed in FPI’s end market map.
