Being overweight or obese can have numerous harmful effects on pets and even a small amount of extra weight can significantly impact their overall health and happiness. Halloween gives a number of opportunities for dogs and cats to get into potentially toxic sources of food—bowls full of candies, bags from trick or treating, and the occasional treat that gets dropped on the floor. The best approach is prevention - put those candy bowls on surfaces your pet cannot reach and don't forget to throw candy wrappers away, as they can cause internal blockages. If you suspect your pet has ingested something harmful, call your veterinarian immediately and seek assistance for your pet.

With a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine (Class of ’99), Dr. Carson brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our team. Beyond his work, Dr. Carson enjoys tinkering with computers, gaming, and diving into science fiction and fantasy literature. When he’s not working or indulging in his hobbies, he loves spending quality time with his loyal chihuahua, Sassy.
