At this year's PTCOG-NA conference held in NYC, NYPC’s Anh Kha, Assistant Chief Therapist/Training Specialist, moderated and helped organize the PTCOG-NA RTT/Dosimetry Workshop this year alongside Mayo Clinic’s Katie Voight, Lead Dosimetrist. Nineteen presenters from proton centers across North America were invited and the guests packed the conference room to learn from these expert radiation therapists and dosimetrists from across North America. On Saturday, members of NYPC's leadership team led a tour of our center as part of the Particle Therapy Cooperative Group-North America (PTCOG-NA) conference. Participants got a behind the scenes look at the technology in our treatment planning areas and treatment rooms, and an overview of the typical patient experience. We were proud to share the space that has made proton therapy possible for all of our patients. #protontherapy

We were delighted to be a local sponsor for the 12th Annual American Brain Tumor Association Breakthrough for Brain Tumors 5K this weekend! NYPC’s Dr. Irini Yacoub participated in a live panel and answered questions about the benefits of proton therapy for brain tumors. During this last week of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, CBS New York’s Jenna Deangelis visited the New York Proton Center to highlight the story of Janice Shahine. Because of her cancer’s location, proton therapy was the best option for Janice to receive minimally invasive treatment and protect her heart from radiation. Montefiore Health System's Dr. Jana Fox explained the benefits of the precision of proton therapy for this type of breast cancer, as well as for children and people who have had cancer before.
