How do you engage the next generation into the Optics and photonics industry? This weekend Monroe Community College #mccoptics program hosted local high school STEP and C-STEP students to learn about our Optical Systems Technology program and the wonderful careers that are available to them. I was fortunate to have brought my next generation (my youngest son) to join me in showing the students how to grind Optics using loose abrasive and a manual grinding machine. Thank you to Justin Cushman for coming in on a Saturday and assisting me with the tour groups. Well done Abbey Helfer and Mike Powlin for organizing the event and the schedule for the students. Gregory Savich and Robert Parada, Ph.D., Doc. Sc. for showing the students all the optical science and application of physics that we use every day in optics. Alexis Spilman Vogt, PhD for leading this amazing team of people!
