Tonight, Mayor Adams succeeded in his stealth attempt to get New Yorkers to cede more power to him. Next up: Reforming the City Charter revision process to make sure this kind of deceptive mayoral power grab can’t happen again.

WE WON! The votes have been counted, and New York has passed Prop 1! New York voters showed up for women and LGBT, immigrant, and disabled New Yorkers by approving the most progressive and comprehensive state Equal Rights Amendment in the country. With this victory, abortion is permanently protected in New York State, and equality and inclusion are now the law of the land.
