  • The Building Congress’ charitable arm, the New York Building Foundation, was invited by the New York City Fund for Public Schools to a special convening for funders of the Student Pathways program. The meeting highlighted the achievements of the program, and we heard first-hand the positive impact it has had on current students and alumni. It also showcased the critical need to expand the program to be able to serve more students. A year after entering the workforce, only 10% of NYC public schools graduates are earning a living wage, rising to just 25% within four years. Research shows that students who participate in career connected learning pathway and complete career aligned internships earn an additional $4,000-$7,000 per year. The Building Foundation is a proud supporter of the Office of Student Pathways Industry Scholars Program which provides paid internships for high school students. • Our panel discussion at yesterday's Construction Industry Breakfast was featured on NY1 News. Metropolitan Transportation Authority Chair Janno Lieber addressed the federal government's congestion pricing funding threat. The piece dives into the program's benefits and the now-changed deadline U.S. DOT had imposed on cancelling it. Watch the segment here: https://lnkd.in/drB7pG7F

  • We were loud and proud at the Governor's congestion pricing rally this morning, joining dozens of other advocates in support of the game-changing program. "The numbers don’t lie: congestion pricing is delivering more revenue than expected, clearing our roads faster than anyone anticipated, and we’re not seeing the traffic spillover some predicted," said our President & CEO Carlo Scissura. "We can’t afford to delay this program for even one day. This is a critical, dedicated, recurring revenue source that the MTA needs right now—to keep New York’s economy strong and our communities moving." And keep the pressure up on funding world-class transit for NY's future by joining our campaign to tell Albany to fully fund the MTA in the state budget: https://lnkd.in/dCy7VEsc

At a pivotal moment for New York City’s transportation future, leaders from across the industry gathered at today’s New York Building Congress (NYBC) event to discuss the issues shaping the city. With the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s capital plan and congestion pricing at the forefront, U.S. Congressman and former Senator Tim Kennedy underscored the urgency of this moment, telling the audience, “There’s never been a more important time to be in this room than right now.” STV CEO and NYBC Chair Gregory Kelly introduced MTA President Janno Lieber, emphasizing the critical role of leadership in advancing New York City's infrastructure. Drawing a parallel to March Madness, Greg remarked, "The key to a winning team is a leader who can make sense among the chaos and keep everyone calm. Janno Lieber is our leader who provides that stability." He went on to say, "An enduring strength of New York is its ability to move people efficiently. Janno is strengthening our foundation of New York with his leadership at the MTA to keep all of us moving." STV remains committed to supporting initiatives that enhance mobility, drive economic growth and create a more sustainable future for all New Yorkers. Now is the time to invest, innovate and move forward together.

  • We'll be at a rally with Gov. Hochul for congestion pricing tomorrow. Here's what our President & CEO Carlo Scissura had to say about it: “The numbers don’t lie: congestion pricing is delivering more revenue than expected, clearing our roads faster than anyone anticipated, and we’re not seeing the traffic spillover some predicted. We can’t afford to delay this program for even one day. This is a critical, dedicated, recurring revenue source that the MTA needs right now—to keep New York’s economy strong and our communities moving.” See you there!
