During this year’s Climate Week NYC, the Yale Center on Climate Change and Health engaged in three impactful events with partners including the Resilient Cities Network, UNICEF, and The New York Academy of Medicine. These events contributed critical insights to the global conversation at the nexus of health and climate change. Each event highlighted the urgent need to address challenges including mitigation and resilience in the health care sector, climate change’s impact on global children’s health, and promoting urban health in the face of rising global temperatures, extreme weather events, and shifting disease patterns. The New York Academy of Medicine (NYAM) seeks a dynamic Chief Development Officer (CDO). The Chief Development Officer is a key leadership position reporting directly to the President. The CDO will be responsible for leading and implementing NYAM’s fundraising strategy and building and managing the development team. The CDO will plan, direct, and execute a range of fundraising activities including major gifts, corporate and foundation relations, annual fund, special events, and planned giving. The CDO will coordinate and collaborate with departments across NYAM, in particular Communications, Events, Research, the Fellows Office, and the world-class NYAM Library. The New York Academy of Medicine is a leading voice for innovation in public health. Throughout its 177-year history, NYAM has championed bold changes to the systems that perpetuate health inequities and keep all communities from achieving a healthier and longer life (‘healthspan’). Today, this work includes innovative research that distinctively values community input for maximum impact. Combined with NYAM’s trusted programming and historic library, and with the support of 1,800 accomplished Fellows and Members, NYAM’s impact as a public health leader continues. NYAM is excited to be partnering again with the Health Foundation for Western and Central New York to support and grow the age-friendly ecosystem. NYAM will provide webinars, training and technical assistance to the second cohort of Age-Friendly: Go Local Grantees.
??We’re pleased to announce the 2024-2025 cohort of Age-Friendly: Go Local! Of this year’s 18 cohort members, 12 are first-time grantees of the Health Foundation, and 10 are either led by, or center the needs of, Black, Indigenous, and other people of color (BIPOC), including New Americans. Many of the grantees are small grassroots organizations that, despite little to no formal age-friendly experience, have deep experience doing neighborhood-based equity work. We applaud their commitment to equity, and we're grateful for our continued collaboration with The New York Academy of Medicine.
