The New Orleans Board of Trade is a non-profit membership organization that was founded in 1880. From the first sale of pork products, which led to our foundation, to modern technology used to tracks vessels that enter and depart the Lower Mississippi River, the NOBOT has been actively involved with the maritime industry. Today, the NOBOT provides various services and products to assist our members in their day to day operations. We provide our members with a daily newsletter to keep them informed of important information effecting commerce on the Mississippi River. We serve the maritime industry through our Society of Maritime Arbitrators, we track all Mississippi River traffic and provide this information in real time to our members.

    Attn Members: The Corps of Engineers has two boats surveying Southwest Pass.? The Captain of the Port has not yet lifted Port Condition Zulu set as they asses the condition of the waterway.?The Coast Guard is considering a modified port condition normal with restrictions.?The will provide additional information later this afternoon.?All Pilot Associations are standing by waiting for the Coast Guard to open the river to navigation.?There are currently 45 vessels waiting to enter the river. Please continue to monitor your email for updates.

    Good Afternoon Members: Prior to lifting port condition Zulu, The Coast Guard will conduct an overflight of the river to assess the waterway condition.?They intend to launch the overflight at first light tomorrow morning.?In addition, the pilots’ associations will be providing additional assessments to the Coast Guard as they position manpower in place for the opening. Dispatchers from the NOBRA and Crescent Pilots have started reaching out to vessel agents as they work to prioritize the movements once the Coast Guard has reopened the river.?Both NOBRA and Crescent report that anchorages in their respective routes are at or near capacity.?Please also ensure that vessel data is up to date in ARP. Additional information on the reopening of the river will be provided as it becomes available.

    To all members: Below is a summary of the most updated information sent out via email: National Weather Service: Hurricane Francine is heading to the Louisiana Coast with landfall expected this afternoon in the vicinity of Morgan City.?Track and intensity remain unchanged from previous advisory.?Projected conditions off Southwest Pass remain unchanged as well.?Peak wave heights should be from Midnight - 03:00 tomorrow morning.?Conditions should begin improving tomorrow afternoon.? Corps of Engineers: In the process of closing the IHNC Lock.?Algiers lock has been closed.?? Coast Guard: Current Port Condition: Zulu Full Port Condition Zulu went into effect at 10:00 this morning.?Vessel movements are prohibited on the river in Coast Guard Sector New Orleans AOR unless it is an emergency situation. ?? Pilot Associations: Bar Pilots:?No status change.?All personnel and equipment are in Venice ready to resume vessel movements when conditions are safe.? Crescent Pilots:?Standing by waiting for the storm to pass. NOBRA Pilots:?Standing by waiting for the storm to pass. Federal Pilots: Standing by waiting for the storm to pass. Port Authorities: All port authorities are standing by waiting for the passage of the storm to resume operations.

    NOBOT Update: National Weather Service: The storm track has shifted to the east.?The storm is expected to strengthen during the day today and make landfall in Central Louisiana.?Anticipated effects at Southwest Pass have not changed since yesterday's update.?Conditions should begin deteriorating at the pass later tonight into tomorrow morning.?Heavy Rainfall and tropical storm forced winds are the major concern for the local area.?? Corps of Engineers: Making the necessary preparation in advance of the storm's landfall.?? Coast Guard: Current Port Condition: Yankee Port condition Zulu is anticipated to be set later this evening.?As has been done in past storms, Zulu may be modified for different portions of the river.? ?? Pilot Associations: Bar Pilots: Last outbound vessel will arrive at Pilottown at 16:00 and the last inbound vessel will arrive at the Southwest Pass Entrance Light at 1700.?Personnel and equipment will be moved to Venice Station.??? Crescent Pilots: Not anticipating evacuating Pilottown at this time.?Will continue to monitor the conditions and move vessels as long as conditions are safe. NOBRA Pilots: No Report Federal Pilots: Last outbound vessel will cross out at 22:15.?Will move their boats to either Venice or Belle Chasse.?Vessel movements will be performed as long as conditions are safe. Port Authorities: All port authorities are making final preparations for landfall of the storm. Port of?St. Bernard plans to cease operations this evening and resume on Thursday morning.

    Good Morning! The Bar Pilots have advised they will cease operations this evening in the 1700–1800-time frame.?The last outbound vessel is due at point underway at 10:30 this morning.?Their current plan is to move their equipment and personnel to Venice. Additional information will be provided after the 10:30 conference call to all members. Please continue to monitor your email for updates.

    To all members: NOBOT will be sending out constant updates as Tropical Storm Francine continues on its track towards the Louisiana Coast. Please refer to your emails for all the latest information and contact our office with any questions. Changes from previous update: -The forecast track has shifted slightly west?from the previous advisory -The forecast intensity has increased slightly?from the previous advisory -The storm surge watch has been upgraded to a warning west of the MS River -The tropical?storm watch has been expanded to include more inland areas west of I-55 -A tropical storm Warning has been issued for areas that previously had a hurricane watch (the watch also still remains in effect) -A flood watch has been issued for the whole area

    The New Orleans Board of Trade is pleased to award our 2024 NOBOT Scholarship to Sophia Weaver. Our board unanimously selected Sophia Weaver as the scholarship recipient from an outstanding pool of applicants based on her stellar achievements not only in the Slidell community but also academically as an Honors Graduate from Northshore High School.?Sophia is the daughter of Barbara Weaver who currently works for Revelle Shipping Agency,?a wholly owned subsidiary of Tricon S/S Agency.?Revelle Shipping has been a valued member of NOBOT for many years. In addition to receiving numerous accolades for academic excellence over her time attending Northshore High School, Sophia has demonstrated strong leadership qualities, a love for band, and a desire to serve her community. She graduated with honors and was in the top 10% of her class of over 362 people. Sophia was the president of Students Against Violence Everywhere, Woodwind Captain of the marching band, and American Sign Language Captain.?She will continue her success this fall attending Mississippi State University as an Aerospace Engineering major while also being a part of The Famous Maroon Marching Band! The NOBOT is proud to honor Sophia Weaver with the 2024 NOBOT Scholarship and we hope that we can be a small part of her future excellence as she enters her freshman year at Mississippi State University.

    CBP's EEM Update: ? Further to the discussions regarding CBP’s Electronic Export Manifest (EEM) Pilot Program during the last VECS update call, we have arranged a meeting with representatives from the Marine Exchange for the Delaware River and Bay.?The MEX is an authorized third-party software provider and will provide a tutorial on how the system works and interacts with CBP.?This virtual informational session will take place next Thursday, May 9th?at 11:00 a.m.?If you have interest in Joining this meeting please reach out to [email protected] for more information. ? We have also had several discussions with local CBP and headquarters regarding the electronic submission of export manifests.?Numerous questions remain regarding the process and requirements that may go into place, and additional information will be provided as the discussions continue.?At this point, this is still a pilot program and CBP is seeking local agents to participate. ?
