Postpartum depression diagnoses have DOUBLED in the last decade. Whether it's due to better detection and reporting or an actual increase, the fact remains: 1 in 5 women suffer from a condition that can lead to suicide or infanticide. This is devastating news and makes our mission at New Mom School more important than ever. Please spread the word to help raise awareness, check in on the moms you know, and join us in the fight to provide moms with the support they need.

Fundamentally changing how new moms are cared for.
关于我们
From New Motherhood to Franchise Ownership: Empowering Moms Every Step of the Way. Founded by Alexandra Spitz in 2012 and franchising since 2023, New Mom School is fundamentally changing the way new moms are cared for during the critical 4th trimester and beyond. Through its one-of-a-kind, research-based, doctor-recommended curriculum, New Mom School empowers moms with expert guidance on maternal health, mental wellness, and newborn care while also fostering deep connections and community by grouping moms based on babies’ birth dates. With their mom-first approach, New Mom School equips participants to thrive in motherhood. With its franchise, New Mom School is also positioning itself as an entrepreneurial path for moms looking to take control of their professional journeys while enjoying the flexibility to be present for their children. The first people in line to open new franchises have been moms who are alumni of the program, which is a testament to how transformative it is.

Researchers often cite a 400 BCE case of postpartum depression observed by Hippocrates as the first recorded instance of the condition. Yet, over 2,000 years later, scant attention has been paid to postpartum mood disorders (PPMDs) clinically or academically. In her new book, "Blue: A History of Postpartum Depression in America," Rachel Louise Moran examines the evolution of the conversation around PPMDs. Is the era of ignoring (or severely downplaying) PPMDs finally coming to a close? With the increasing conversations around mental health in general, it seems we might finally be turning the page. But there's a long way to go. At New Mom School, we will continue to do our part by proactively addressing the mental health of new moms in our classes, urging every mom to take care of themselves and to reach out for help if they need it, and having public conversations about the issue to raise awareness and destigmatize the mental struggles that up to 85% of new moms face. We are on a mission to fundamentally change how new moms are cared for, and it's an effort that's long overdue. https://lnkd.in/gUxgs-Gh

Currently, 1 in 4 new mothers returns to work just two weeks after giving birth, while many fathers receive no paid leave at all. Now is the moment to raise your voice. Paid family and medical leave benefits both families and businesses, creating stronger communities and driving economic progress. It’s time to push for federal paid leave for every American family. THIS is what it looks like when a society truly cares for the health and well-being of moms, babies, and families. At New Mom School, we're on a mission to fundamentally change how new moms are cared for, but our programs are just one piece of the solution. There's so much more that needs to be addressed. From the article, "Sweden’s new policy reflects something we desperately need to adopt here in the U.S.: the belief that raising children isn’t just a mother’s job. Families need support—and often, that support comes from corporations, the government, grandparents, friends, and even extended family stepping in.? The truth is that mothers thrive when they have a village around them. When we empower mothers, we empower families, and when families thrive, communities thrive, too. But empowering mothers requires more than inspiration. It requires tangible public policy that invests in families." We couldn't agree more.
Sweden now pays grandparents to take parental leave. America, it’s time to catch up.
