When you spend your weekends with strangers, working toward a growth mindset individually and collectively, you realize the power of collaboration for the greater good. Those strangers become family, innovative leaders, and change agents—a resource of knowledge. Change and growth, both professionally and personally, require consistent planning, prepping, critical thinking, networking, and sometimes stepping into unfamiliar spaces. But in doing so, you create impact, serving the world and the people we care for with love. New Leaders Council NYC Cohort25 #Stop Start Keep

We are honored to have been awarded the Collective Impact Award at this year's New Leaders Council Convention in Atlanta. A special shout out to Chapter Co-Director Troy Mack, Ph.D. for giving an incredible Spark Talk about the work we have done and the partnerships we have built over the past two years.
Creative Director | Strategic Leader Driving Impactful Storytelling for Mission-Driven Organizations
This past weekend, I had the pleasure of attending the annual New Leaders Council Convention hosted by the Atlanta Chapter. It was truly inspiring to meet incredible leaders from across the country and engage in insightful conversations about impacting change in our communities. Thank you to everyone who made this experience so inspiring, and a special thanks to the Atlanta chapter for being so welcoming. I look forward to visiting again soon. I'm thrilled to announce that the New Leaders Council NYC Chapter received the Collective Impact Award for our exceptional programming and efforts over the past two years. We've rebuilt, grown, and expanded our capacities, forming partnerships with New Politics Leadership Academy, New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), and The New York Public Library. I am immensely proud of our board and volunteers for their dedication, and grateful to NLC HQ for this recognition. Please consider donating to support our ongoing work. https://lnkd.in/euxvhRby We are also accepting nominations and applications for the 2025 fellowship. https://lnkd.in/eH-kY5sN Join us in making a difference!

Thank you David White and to all the New Leaders Council NYC Capstone Coaches! We are so lucky to have your commitment and leadership. Can't wait for Day 2 of Capstone presentations!
Technologist, Data Leader & Educator | Data Strategist at Zinc Labs | Institute Chair at New Leaders Council | Devoted to using data and technology to solve real-world problems and inspiring others to do the same
This year, I've had the honor of mentoring a LEAD group of four fellows in this year's New Leaders Council NYC cohort. This morning, I was SO PROUD as I watched them all brilliantly deliver their Capstone Presentations at NLC Institute. My fellows (yes, I'm claiming them) spoke with boldness and passion, with intelligence and precision, with compassion and vision. In a word, they were persuasive. Here's a quick overview of their presentations today: ? G Clay Miller delivered a passionate appeal to take action to close the digital divide in Brooklyn. G's presentation ended with a stirring call to action. (I've never seen an entire room start cheering at the call-to-action before. His was that good.) ? Sharice Richards delivered an unconventional capstone presentation that drew upon her experience as an educator. Sharice shared her vision, which will come to pass very soon, for starting her?own?educational consultancy. ? Casey Sabella shared how her life's journey has led her to develop a program for getting youth involved in organizing and keeping them engaged across multiple election cycles. ? Louis Paniccioli laid out his vision for founding a nonprofit led by and in support of people with disabilities. In addition to the?sessions at institute, my group also?met separately to get more individualized coaching.?In our small group sessions, we worked through some of the practicalities of taking the seed of an idea and developing it into something that's alive and bearing fruit in the world. Our small group also benefitted greatly from the contributions of two additional guest coaches: ? Stephanie M. led our group through an outstanding training on fundraising. Stephanie also did some role-play with individualized feedback with the fellows to help them get more comfortable making a hard ask during call time. (Stephanie's training was literally one of the best I've ever been a part of. Figuratively? No. Literally, one of the best.?This?was the training I wish I had 20 years ago.) ? and Sara Thompson, PhD, a.k.a. That Presentation Coach, coached the fellows on presentation skills and speaking with authenticity. Watching the capstones today, I saw firsthand how the fellows incorporated Sara's feedback into their presentations, and the before-and-after was remarkable. ? And finally, THANK YOU to NLC NYC Alumni and Mentor Chair Nick B. for making all of this possible! What a day today!

We're kicking off New York's annual HBCU SpringComing festival \in the heart of Harlem for a candid panel discussion on this evening's topic: "The Future of HBCUs for New York." Tonight, Monday, April 15th, 6:30pm to 8pm, New Leaders Council NYC is proud to launch its new partnership with The New York Public Library (NYPL) with the night's free event at The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, New York Public Library. The night's two all-star panels will explore not only the local linkages between these institutions and communities throughout the five boroughs but also how existing and emerging factors in the City's landscape collectively cultivate and impede HBCU graduates' success. The new partnership between NLC NYC and NYPL seeks to close the knowledge gap that is exacerbating inequity in New York across a range of metrics. It will bring community conversations with experts to local libraries in three pilot neighborhoods: the South Bronx, Lower East Side, and Harlem. We look forward to seeing you on tonight at this launch event! Register at bit.ly/the-future-of-hbcus
