The New Jersey State League of Municipalities Conference in Atlantic City this week revealed a new look: More and more women were determined to attend with sensible footwear that didn't compromise their style: Simply put, they were wearing eye-catching sneakers. The women admitted they were stealing a page from a fashion trend started by men, who have been wearing sneakers with suits for some time. Will this be a trend that continues on the Walk to Washington? Aixa Lopez, VP of operations for the Statewide Hispanic Chamber, thinks so. New Jersey Chamber of Commerce CEO Thomas A. Bracken and chief lobbyist Michael Egenton visited with U.S. Senator George Helmy today at the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, D.C. The three discussed issues important to businesses both nationwide and in New Jersey. Helmy was appointed in September by Gov. Phil Murphy to the Senate seat vacated by the resignation of Bob Menendez. Rep. Andy Kim was elected last week to that seat and will take office in January.
