The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Protecting Against Climate Threats (PACT) Resilient Environments And Landscapes Rule (REAL), if adopted, would have a wide ranging and hugely detrimental impact to the home building industry. Impacts of the rule proposal are not just limited to the coast, as increases to buffer zones and stormwater changes will be statewide. The REAL Rule will make countless development and redevelopment projects financially infeasible amidst our housing crisis while simultaneously harming property values. Visit the link below to read about why we need a new approach to resiliency and learn how you can help. https://lnkd.in/epbDAzRs #njba #bringingpeoplehomes

Yesterday, Acting Governor Scutari signed?A4360 (Karabinchak)/S3402 (Scutari), the?"New Jersey Design Professional Self-Certification Act," into law. NJBA worked closely with the Administration and Legislature on this initiative and was pleased to be invited ot the bill signing ceremony.?The new law will allow engineers and architects to self-certify certain building?plans and is another step toward modernizing and creating efficiencies in the?plan?review?and approval process.?NJBA CEO Jeff Kolakowski stated,?“NJBA commends NJ Governor Phil Murphy, Senate President Nicolas Scutari and Assemblyman Robert Karabinchak for taking another step to modernize NJ’s building code processes. By empowering qualified experts to self-certify certain building code plans, this new law will leverage the private sector to create additional career and business opportunities and reduce the time and cost to complete residential projects. After successful enactment of the inspection reform law 2 years ago, the Governor and Legislature have once again responsibly reduced regulatory burdens that will in turn help to lower the cost of housing.” Please see the following link for a copy of the Governor's Office press release: https://lnkd.in/eHmVC5N9 #njba #bringingpeoplehomes

Greatly appreciate Commissioner Suarez joining us and sharing what her and her great team are doing to support #bringingpeoplehomes
Commissioner Jacquelyn A. Suárez unwrapped the unique bundle of programs and services that make up the DCA and described its reach into the lives of nearly every New Jersey resident during her keynote address at the @NewJerseyBuildersAssoc Board of Directors and members meeting. The hot topic was DCA’s role in implementing the recent #AffordableHousing legislation #A4/S50, the timeline for the process, and its implication on municipalities and housing developers. Commissioner and Chief-of-Staff Kia King engaged in frank dialogue with professionals as they discussed challenges and goals of the industry which sparked some creative problem-solving.
