Our perspective on forgiveness changes when we remember that Jesus forgave us of every single sin we've committed on the cross. Jesus' compassion and forgiveness towards us, empowers us to be compassionate towards others and forgive even the worst of betrayals. A lot of our students have been deeply wounded, but last week we taught the kids unforgiveness really harms the person who holds it, not the person who was wronged. This week we are shining the spotlight on one of our incredible students at our Uplift site named "Z". She has such a gift of community building. She always has a smile, a positive attitude and a hug for her teachers. She loves to cheer and dance. Z does an amazing job of including everyone in activities is really a ray of sunshine in our program and we are so excited to see what the future holds for her! At our Uplift Site in Fort Worth, Miss Wendy’s thing is Science, and she does a great job of making sure the kids get to do a lot of STEM projects. The kids were challenged with making the tallest structure possible given a certain amount of marshmallows and sticks of spaghetti. They had some interesting techniques for sure, including snacking on the materials ??. Something really great about after school is that kids of different grade levels and ages come together to participate and help one another on the same project, teaching them about community. This project gave the kids a chance for hands on learning about physics, planning, structure, collaboration and communication.
