Houston lost a true champion this month. Mayor Sylvester Turner’s heart was as big as his vision—he believed in a city where everyone has a place to call home. His leadership helped move over 25,000 people into housing, reducing homelessness by 64% and making Houston a model for compassionate housing solutions. With the City of Houston’s support, we built five affordable apartment communities during his tenure and began construction on four more affordable developments, each one a foundation for stability, dignity, and hope. We honor his memory and send our deepest condolences to his loved ones and to every Houstonian he fought for. Thank you, Mayor Turner. Your impact will be felt for generations to come.
